Natural way for Liver Detox ..........

liver

The liver is one of the most important organs in the body. It is unique, being the only organ that can regenerate itself to repair damage and can even regrow if partially removed. On a daily basis, it is involved in our metabolism and protects us from toxic substances. But despite its resiliency, the liver itself also needs to be protected.  A healthy diet and a patented natural ingredient are two ways to help protect the liver and keep it functioning effectively for years to come.

Herbal bitters

Bitter medicines are beloved by herbalists. The bitter taste stimulates digestive processes, including the liver’s production of bile. Bile, part digestive juice, part waste product, is made by the liver and excreted via the bowel.  Herbal bitters are also known as Swedish Bitters.

St. Mary’s Thistle

St. Mary’s Thistle and the Police share the same motto – “To protect and serve”. It protects liver cells from damage from the likes of alcohol and carbon tetrachloride and serves to regenerate already damaged liver cells.

Lemon juice

The juice of half a lemon in hot water first thing in the morning is a time-honoured way to start the day, and is an excellent wake up call for the liver. The sourness of lemons triggers nerve and hormone activation to the liver and digestive system. Very helpful for those who suffer from sluggish bowels.

Brussels sprouts

The brassica family including cabbage, broccoli and Brussels sprouts, contain glucosinolates. Glucosinolates are sulphur containing (hence the boarding school corridor smell) compounds that protect the liver from damage and improve its ability to eliminate toxins and excess hormones.

Turmeric

The spice that colours curries yellow, and was also used to dye the robes of Hindu priests. Turmeric has impressive anti-inflammatory effects throughout the body, including the liver. Excellent for a liver virus or infection.

Crab apple

The Bach Flower, Crab Apple, is for people who feel ashamed of their physical appearance, and may themselves feel toxic. Although Bachs are mostly recommended for emotional purposes, Crab Apple, fits the bill nicely to be used for dexox purposes.

Water

Drinking sufficient fluids such as water, tea and herbal tea, improves the flow of nutrients to, and waste products from, the liver. Not drinking enough may increase the risk of gallstones, which is when bile becomes too concentrated in the gall bladder.

Zinc

Zinc is important in many enzyme reactions throughout the body. In particular, zinc is needed by the liver enzyme, alcohol dehydrogenase, to break down alcohol into less toxic substances. If you drink, you need zinc.

Dandelion Root

A long history of healing ailing livers. Dandelion root coffee is black and bitter, making it an excellent coffee alternative if you are keen on improving liver health.

Methionine

An essential amino acid, methionine is vital for several detoxification processes performed by the liver. It also forms part of a compound known as glutathione, which is an antioxidant, protecting liver and other cells from damage.

Why You Should Be Drinking Lemon Water in the Morning ?.............

Starting your day off with warm lemon water is thought to have a ton of health benefits - and it's been an Ayurvedic practice for a long time, learn about the health benefits of drinking lemon water first thing in the morning.

1.  Aids in Digestion.
Not only does the warm water help to stimulate the GI tract, but the lemons are believed to stimulate and  purify the liver. It also helps digestive acids with digestion and elimination.

2.  Support Immune Function.
Citrus fruits like lemon are high in vitamin C and ascorbic acid. Vitamin C can help fight colds and and the ascorbic acid helps iron absorption which also plays a role in immune function.

3.  Alkalizes the body
If your body is in a chronic pH imbalance, it's susceptible to disease. Even though lemons seem acidic, they are extremely alkalizing and a great way to ensure your pH balance is where it should be especially if your diet is heavy in meat, cheese and/or alcohol.

4.   Helps Detox
Lemon water is a natural diuretic, which means it helps your body flush liquid and toxins along with it. The citric acid can also help maximize enzymes which stimulates the liver.

5.   It's Energizer
The combination of water and lemon helps to hydrate and oxygenate the blood, leaving you feeling great!

6.   Keeps skin beautiful
Chronic dehydration can leave skin looking dull, so start your day on the right foot with lemon water. Vitamin C plays a critical role in maintaining healthy skin and the antioxidants can combat aging factors.

Great Grains ..........

Whole grains are an excellent source of nutrition, as they contain essential enzymes, iron, dietary fiber, vitamin E and B-complex vitamins. The body absorbs grains slowly, so they provide sustained and high-quality energy.

1.  Brown Rice

The process that produces brown rice removes only the outermost layer, the hull, of the rice kernel and is the least damaging to its nutritional value. The complete milling and polishing that converts brown rice into white rice destroys 67% of the vitamin B3, 80% of the vitamin B1, 90% of the vitamin B6, half of the manganese, half of the phosphorus, 60% of the iron, and all of the dietary fiber and essential fatty acids. Fully milled and polished white rice is required to be "enriched" with vitamins B1, B3 and iron.

2.  Millet (gandum)

Millet is one of those foods vegetarians love. Learn about millet, weight loss, healthy diets, and fiber foods.

3.   Quinoa

It tastes great, it is high protein, and it is part of another major food trend of today: gluten free eating.

4.  Buckwheat

Buckwheat's beneficial effects are due in part to its rich supply of flavonoids, particularly rutin. Flavonoids are phytonutrients that protect against disease by extending the action of vitamin C and acting as antioxidants. Buckwheat's lipid-lowering activity is largely due to rutin and other flavonoid compounds. These compounds help maintain blood flow, keep platelets from clotting excessively (platelets are compounds in blood that, when triggered, clump together, thus preventing excessive blood loss, and protect LDL from free radical oxidation into potentially harmful cholesterol oxides. All these actions help to protect against heart disease.

5.  Oats

While the health benefits of oats are documented in hundreds of studies, we've listed just a sample here to indicate the power of oats to improve human health.

6.  Barley

Barley is a wonderfully versatile cereal grain with a rich nutlike flavor and an appealing chewy, pasta-like consistency. Its appearance resembles wheat berries, although it is slightly lighter in color. Sprouted barley is naturally high in maltose, a sugar that serves as the basis for both malt syrup sweetener. When fermented, barley is used as an ingredient in beer and other alcoholic beverages.

7.   Amaranth

Amaranth May Have Cancer-preventing, Anti-inflamatory Properties. Molecular biologists in Mexico set out to study the bioactive peptides in amaranth.

20 Best Foods for Fiber ............

Fiber can lower blood sugar, cut cholesterol, and may even prevent colon cancer and help you avoid hemorrhoids. If it were a drug, the world would be clamoring for it.

But few people are getting enough.

Women should get about 25 grams a day and men at least 35 to 40, but the average person gets just 15 grams a day. Eating fiber-rich whole foods—not foods that tout "added fiber"—is the best way to increase your fiber intake, says Carolyn Brown, RD, a nutritionist at Foodtrainers, in New York City.

Here is a list of high-fiber foods—

3 Yoga Poses for Fighting Cellulite ...........

Cellulite is actually just adipose tissue (fat) that ends up looking lumpy because it’s pushing against the connective tissue, which makes the skin above it crumple. One of the most effective ways for fighting cellulite is through diet and exercise. Strength-boosting yoga moves that target the thighs can work wonders in the war against the dimples—yoga tightens, tones, and lengthens the muscles making your skin look smoother.
Practice these three moves at least three to four times a week in conjunction with a healthy diet, cardio workouts, and lots of water, and you should start to see an improvement in your hips, thighs, and buttocks.

Eagle Pose
This pose was the best for fighting cellulite. Maybe because you have to tighten and tone your inner and outer thighs to hold this pose and really squeeze the thigh muscles firmly. You also have to engage your core end entire lower half of your body.

Start by bending your knees then crossing your right thigh high above your left thigh. If you can, double wrap the leg so the foot hooks behind the left calf. If this is too challenging, let the foot stay outside or even tap the toes on the floor. Wrap your left arm under your right arm and then press the palms together. Sit even deeper and squeeze your thighs as you gaze down the tip of your nose. Hold for 5 to 8 breaths, then repeat on the other side. This pose is also great for concentration and focus, which can help you make better health choices.

It’s usually in this area that cellulite tends to be most prominent. Start seated with your legs out in front of you and bring your hands about 10 inches behind you with your fingers facing forward. Press firmly into your hands and feet and lift your hips up into an inverted plank. Hold here for 5 to 8 breaths then lower down and repeat one more time.

Shoulder Stand
Shoulder stand and other inverted yoga poses help aid the lymphatic system.  Start lying down on your back. Use your lower abdominals to lift your hips up over head into plow pose. Clasp your hands under your back and hike your shoulders up toward your ears to come off the back of your neck. Bend your elbows and place your hands on your lower back. Lift your legs up to the ceiling and engage your thighs actively to lengthen up out of your lower back. Keep pressing firmly into the elbows. If you feel your neck compressed, at all come down or use padding under your shoulders. Hold for 8 to 10 breaths (or longer if you can) before coming back down through plow and lowering to the floor.

Saya sering menyarankan agar para pesakit memperbanyakkan amalan meminum air.

(Dr. Zubaidi Hj Ahmad)

TANDA SISTEM PENGHADAMAN TERGANGGU ..........

Sistem penghadaman yang terganggu biasanya bermula dengan munculnya beberapa tanda:

- Badan atau nafas berbau

- Kurang selera makan terhadap makanan tertentu
- Mudah sakit kepala setelah mengambil makanan tertentu
- Rasa kurang bertenaga setelah makan
- Kuku mudah patah
- Mengalami sembelit

The 7 Dangerous Acts after meal ..............

ll

* Don't smoke- Experiment from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes (chances of cancer is higher).

* Don't eat fruits immediately -When you eat your fruits with meals, the fruit is stuck in the stomach along with the contents of the meals and cannot reach the intestines in time. Lying there they get spoilt and spoil the remaining food in the stomach too. Thus it is recommended that you eat a fruit at least one hour after eating a meal or before your meal and preferably in the morning with empty stomach. It is in the morning that the body can best use the nutrients in the fruit and get enough energy to start the day.

* Don't drink tea - Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the Protein content in the food we consume to be hardened thus difficult to digest. It is preferable to drink tea an hour after meals.

* Don't loosen your belt -Fiction, not particularly bad for you!
We generally have an attitude that a good meal is that which forces us to loosen our belts. However, loosening the belt is bad, not because it causes the intestines to twist or block but because it means that you have over eaten to a level that you are uncomfortable. Loosening of the belt may also cause you to feel comfortable once again which means you may continue overeating.
So eat only to the extent that you can be comfortable without loosening your belt!

* Don't bathe - Bathing after meal will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

* Don't walk about -Fact, it is bad for you! Walking directly after meals is a bad idea, it can result to acid reflux and indigestion. However, walking about half an hour after meals is known to be good for you. Researchers in the Department of Exercise Science at the University of South Carolina, have found that walking after exercise is a good way to burn energy.

The point to note is when to walk, you should ideally walk for about 10 minutes and only 20-30 minutes after meal to prevent acid reflux and stomach upsets.

* Don't sleep immediately - The food we intake will not be able to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric & infection in our intestine.

Cotton Soft Japanese Cheesecake Recipe ...........

Ingredients:
140g/5 oz. fine granulated sugar
6 egg whites
6 egg yolks
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
50g/2 oz. butter
250g/9 oz. cream cheese
100 ml/3 fluid oz. fresh milk
1 tablespoon lemon juice
60g/2 oz. cake flour /superfine flour
20g/1 oz. cornflour (cornstarch)
1/4 teaspoon salt

Method:
1. Melt cream cheese, butter and milk over a double boiler. Cool the mixture. Fold in the flour, the cornflour, egg yolks, lemon juice and mix well.

2. Whisk egg whites with cream of tartar until foamy. Add in the sugar and whisk until soft peaks form.
3. Add the cheese mixture to the egg white mixture and mix well. Pour into a 8-inch round cake pan (lightly grease and line the bottom and sides of the pan with grease-proof baking paper or parchment paper).
4. Bake cheesecake in a water bath for 1 hours 10 minutes or until set and golden brown at 160 degrees C (325 degrees F).

Cook’s Notes:
1. I baked the cake in 9” round tin, did not line the sides.
2. If you use a 8″ pan, it is very important to line the sides of the 8” pan with parchment paper, make sure the parchment paper extends higher than the cake tin by about 1.5”.
3. If springform pan or loose base cake tin is used, wrap the base of your cake tin with 2 layers aluminium foil,

4. I baked the cake on the lowest shelf in the oven ( to prevent cracks on top and over browning).
5. I left the cake to cool down in the oven with the oven door open, about an hour. This is to prevent sudden change of temperature that may cause the cake to shrink drastically. It’s normal that the cake will shrink about ½” after cooling.
6. Refrigerate the cake (with or without the cake tin) for at least 4 hours or overnight.
