How to Make Flan ......(egg kastard dessert)

Creme Caramel Custard Strawberryl

Flan is an egg custard dessert that's extremely popular in most Hispanic countries. It is an easy to make, nutritious and delicious dessert. However, anyone with allergies to eggs or milk should not try it.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup (170 g) sugar
  • 1 3/4 - 2 cups (413-473 ml) Evaporated milk
  • 5 - 6 egg yolks.
  • 1 - 2 whole eggs
  • 1 can (380 g) Condensed milk.
  • 3/4 - 1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla extract.
  • Brown sugar

    Steps

    1
Mix the eggs (yolk and a bit of the white), condensed milk, evaporated milk, and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix until completely homogeneous for the flan.

    2
Sprinkle or spread several tablespoons of brown sugar in the mold that you are going to use for the leche flan.

    3
Caramelize the sugar either in an oven, toaster oven, or on the stove top for about 3 minutes or until the sugar melts.

    4
Pour mixture  into a stainless steel or aluminum flan mold or separate ramekins.

    5
Place the leche flan inside a steamer and steam until cooked for about 20-30 minutes. You know the flan is cooked when the mixture does not stick to the toothpick when you poke it, nor will it jiggle much.

    6
Let the cooked leche flan cool for 15 minutes. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours.

    7
With a knife, loosen the edges of the flan from the bowl.

    8
Then, turn bowl on a serving plate. Or line the edges of the leche flan mold so that all you have to do is remove the mold cover.

    9
    Serve!
